Click here to go to our adoption page! Pick out a pet or two, send us a message, and we will be in contact soon!
How much does it cost to adopt?
Our adoption fees range from $200-$400 per pet, depending on a variety of factors, including age, breed, and length of stay at the rescue. The adoption fee includes vaccines, deworming, flea treatment, other necessary vetting, official health record, transportation to the San Juan airport, the flight to your location, and a soft-sided airline-approved pet carrier.
Is there a discount if I adopt 2 pets at the same time?
Yes! We strongly encourage adopting 2 kitties together! And we give a $100 discount off the total adoption fee if you adopt 2 at the same time!
Are the pets spayed/neutered?
We do our best to get as many pets spayed and neutered as possible. However, there is a shortage of veterinarians and low-cost spay/neuter clinics in Puerto Rico. Therefore, we focus on getting the adult kitties spayed and neutered, and when possible, we also spay/neuter kittens that are 6 months or older. If the kitty is not sterilized prior to adoption, the adopter must agree to do so within 6 months of adoption.
Can you fly the pet to my city?
We fly kitties all over the continental United States and have flown kitties to more than 30 states! However, we rely on volunteer travelers coming and going from Puerto Rico to take the kitties on the plane with them to their final destinations. There are many travelers going to New York City, Newark, Boston, and various cities in Florida. All other locations may take us extra time to find travelers and flights. We have created a group on our Facebook page for people who would like to adopt, but live in a less common destination. You can post your location in the group and then whenever we find flights, we post them in the group.
If I live in Puerto Rico can I adopt?
Due to our mission to help reduce pet overpopulation in Puerto Rico and the dire living conditions for most animals on the island, we fly all of our pets to the States. If you live in PR, there are many places you can find adoptable pets, often for free. There are dozens of Facebook groups offering free pets and there are many shelters across the island with tens of thousands of loving pets waiting for homes. Please check out these locations to find a wonderful pet in need of a loving forever home!
How long does it take to get my pet?
For our most common destinations (JFK, Newark, Boston, Florida), it usually takes us 1-3 weeks to secure a flight. For the rest of the States, it can vary from 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on how popular of a location you live in. If you are flexible and willing to drive a couple hours to other airports, you increase your chances of getting your pet faster than if you are only willing to pick up at a single airport.
Does the pet fly in the cabin or cargo?
All of our pets fly in the cabin with the travelers. It is very safe and secure. It is not advisable to fly pets in cargo, unless they are too large to fly in the cabin.
Why are there so many homeless pets/Siamese cats in PR?
Unfortunately, there are many factors that contribute to the pet overpopulation problem in Puerto Rico. A combination of poverty, a culture that has historically not valued animals, lack of affordable spay/neuter options, the popularity of buying from breeders, irresponsible and uncommitted pet ownership, allowing animals to be indoor/outdoor without being sterilized, abandoning pets outside when they are no longer wanted, and a climate that allows for year-round breeding make for some of the worst conditions for pets in the United States.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! We are a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit with the IRS and also a Puerto Rico nonprofit organization.
How do I know this is not a scam?
We understand there are lot of scams on the internet. However, we are not one of them. You are welcome to go on our Facebook page and look at our positive reviews, comments from our hundreds of happy adopters, or look us up on GuideStar.org, which provides information on all legitimate nonprofit organizations.
Do you fly pets to other countries?
Due to the difficulty in finding flights and the complicated regulations involved with flying live animals to foreign countries, we only fly our pets within the continental United States.
